The Houghton Trust

The Houghton Trust Lecture

On the occasion of each World Veterinary Poultry Association (WVPA) Congress, the Houghton Trust sponsors the Houghton Trust Lecture, which is given by a young scientist (not older than 45 at the time of the relevant Congress), who has made major contributions to the field of poultry disease research.

To mark the occasion, the Lecturer is presented with an engraved commemorative award.  All costs of attending the Congress at which the Lecture is given are met by the Houghton Trust.

A table of previous Lecturers and the 2011 presenter at the XVIth Congress in Cancun, Mexico is given below.

Nominations are now invited for candidates for the 2013 Lecture
This will be presented at the XVIIth WVPA Congress in France in 2013

Nominations for the Houghton Lecturer may be made either:

  • By the Corresponding Secretary of a National Branch of the World Veterinary Poultry Association (WVPA) or
  • By an individual member of the WVPA.

The nomination must be on the official form:

Nominations should be received by Dr Heffels-Redmann by 30 June 2011 for discussion by the Officers of the Bureau of the WVPA at its meeting in Cancun, Mexico in August 2011. The Grants Subcommittee of the Houghton Trust will then choose the Houghton Lecturer from the short-list of 6 candidates, prepared by the Bureau.

  • Potential candidates may not nominate themselves.

  • Candidates who have been nominated unsuccessfully may be re-nominated on a subsequent occasion, provided they still meet the necessary requirements.
